New Puppy

We have a new addition to our family. Her name is Alabama Stanley- "Bama". We picked her up on Friday and have been hard at work ever since :). She is cute and VERY active! Our dog Scout doesn't know what to think.

Christmas Tree and COLD Weather!

It has been a cold December here in South Dakota. The last couple of days here we have had temperatures in the negative digits with blizzard like conditions. Those who are reading this down south- can you imagine?! People here in South Dakota would agree though- it is way too cold. Dennis and I are shut in our house trying to keep warm with prayers that this will pass soon.
Last weekend we made a trip to The Stanley Cabin in the Black Hills. Dennis and Dick searched for a Christmas tree the "old fashion" way and cut it down. It is 15 feet tall, fits perfectly in the cabin and is beautiful. Just like Clark's tree in "Christmas Vacation" minus the squirrel.
We hope everyone is having a wonderful Christmas season. We miss and love you.

Laddy Boy

Today was a very sad day for us. Our dog Laddy passed away this afternoon. For the past couple of weeks he was very sick. We did everything that we could to help but unfortunately it was his time to go.

Laddy was such a wonderful, sweet and loving dog. He will be greatly missed.

Great progress is being made on the house! We were told today that concrete will be poured tomorrow. Here are some updated photographs. Don't you think Laddy and Scout look right at home?! (They "stayed" very well while Dennis took these photos.)

New School Year... vacation is over...

It has been a long time since our last post. We have been busy around here. Summer has come to an end. Mary is back at work and Dennis continues to stay busy with farming. We are excited though for the fall. Football season has come (we took a trip to Lincoln to watch Nebraska's opening game... ) and it is getting cooler here.
We have made great progress on house plans. We are hoping to start building in the next month. What a very happy time this will be! Also, we are planning a trip to Birmingham at the beginning of November for Mary Louise and Jerry's wedding PLUS a trip at the end of November for Thanksgiving. We can't wait to visit Birmingham and to catch up with friends and family.
We hope all is happy your way!

Julie came to visit!

This past week Julie made a visit to South Dakota to celebrate our 31st birthday. We spent a couple of days in the Black Hills. We then headed to Presho and were greeted with a "Fajita Party" at Arvidene and Dick's!
It was a nice visit and like always.... it was tough having to say goodbye.

This past week Mom, Dad, Aunt Rhonda and Uncle Dan visited us in South Dakota. We stayed at Dennis' family cabin for three nights. We took in all the wonderful sights in the Black Hills during this time. The last two nights were spent in Presho. We had a great time! It was tough having to say goodbye....

The Wheat!

The second week in June....
The third week in June.....

The fourth week in June!

We are approaching wheat harvest soon. It is going to be a busy July. Dennis is hoping that this will start the second week in July. It is beginning to warm up here (we reached 90 yesterday) and the wheat is getting closer to being ready. It has been a great year- so harvest will be an exciting time for all! Here are some pictures of the progress the wheat has made this past month.

Welcome to our blog!

Dennis and I have created this blog page to keep our family and friends up to date with our life here in South Dakota. We hope that everyone is doing well. We love you and miss you!!
