Birmingham

Mae and I recently took a trip to Birmingham. It was fabulous! I am amazed how many people we were able to see and all of the fun activities that we participated in. What a fun trip! We are already missing everyone and hope it won't be too terribly long until we head that way again.

Start of Summer

Hi! Remember us???

I have actually had several people tell me just recently they follow my blog. Which really makes me embarrassed because I am just terrible at posting. I would promise to be more diligent at my posts from now on.... however, I just wouldn't want to tell a lie. I can promise that I will try harder though.

Summer has gotten off to a fun start. In May we took a trip-- a much needed and anticipated getaway. Mom and Dad met us in San Fransisco and we rented a car and drove out to Sonoma. Talk about a perfect and beautiful destination. Sonoma was fabulous. We enjoyed the restaurants, vineyards, parks, shopping, etc. Most of all we enjoyed spending time with Buddy and Grandmomma and our beautiful surroundings. When I find myself stressed I just close my eyes and think of Sonoma. It is definitely a place we will be revisiting- hopefully sooner than later.

When we returned from our trip, planting of milo begun. Dennis has been busy with the farm. Lots of work to get done as we are moving into planting and summer harvest. Dennis has also been working hard in our garden. He definitely gets full credit for the garden because he has done all of the work on it. He has planted tomatoes, sunflowers, pumpkins, squash and lavender. I need to post pictures because it looks great! Fingers crossed we will not have a terrible wind storm to knock it out like last year.

I recently accepted the preschool teaching position for next school year. I will be teaching four year olds in our community three mornings a week. Part time teaching positions never come available in our school district so when I was approached about this job, I jumped at the chance to do it. So this summer I will find myself organizing a classroom and gathering information on the best way to teach four year olds. Please pray for me :).

Mae is growing like a weed. She is a very curious and determined little girl. She loves spending time outside and has figured out how to take pictures on my iphone. I am starting to learn the term "terrible twos". Not that Mae is bad or anything... She just has a certain way things need to be done and certain idea of what she wants to do. Needless to say, we are working on transitions. Overall Mae just loves any new experiences she comes across and is a very happy girl. Which makes for a very happy Momma and Daddy.

We have an upcoming trip to Birmingham end of June. Mae and I are looking forward to having some fun with family and friends. I will be in touch.

Hope everyone is enjoying their start to summer. For those of you reading this, thank you for taking the time to read and not giving up on checking my blog.

Spring Has Sprung

Even though we were so fortunate (VERY fortunate) to have a mild winter, I have never been more anxious for Spring to arrive. I think the most exciting thing about Spring has been taking Mae outside now that she is mobile and more aware of her surroundings. If we are lucky enough to have a day without wind, you can bet we will be hanging outside. Like most toddlers, Mae is an explorer and every little thing is so interesting to her. Wouldn't it be amazing to see life through the eyes of a toddler?

The highlight of the past month was definitely our first annual Easter Egg Hunt. We dyed eggs, decorated cookies, ate good food and most important had a really fun egg hunt. Mae had no clue what was all going on BUT she had fun and loved every minute of it. I can't wait to plan another one next year.

The Easter Bunny (thank you Aunt Lisa, Grandmomma, Buddy and Tammy) was SO good to us. Seriously good.... Mae is spoiled....

At the end of the month we are heading west to Sonoma with Buddy and Grandmomma. We are counting the days and can not wait to go.

I hope each of you are embracing the warmth and beauty of Spring. Praise God for all of His many blessings!

On My Heart Lately...

Amazing grace
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now I'm found
Was blind, but now I see
'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed

My chains are gone
I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy rains
Unending love, Amazing grace

The Lord has promised good to me
His word my hope secures
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures

My chains are gone
I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy rains
Unending love, Amazing grace

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow
The sun forbear to shine
But God, Who called me here below
Will be forever mine
Will be forever mine
You are forever mine

Quality Time

Recently Mae loves playing dress up.

We have seen some pretty cold days here lately which means, we have spent some quality time indoors finding ways to entertain ourselves.

Mae loves jewelry (a trait she got from her mom supposedly).

Loves Grandmomma's scarves.

I think we have established that Mae is a definite girly-girl... even in her Bama hat and pink tutu.

(Speaking of Bama... ROLL TIDE ROLL!! Man, what a game!)

Mae is a real helper.

A diva from time to time.

But overall she is one sweet girl- a girl I could be stuck in the house with forever more.

December

December has come and gone and we have taken from this many memories- some sad ones, but overall happy ones.

In December my sweet Mammaw passed away. She has been searching for peace for so long and now she has found this. On December 16th, I know that God welcomed her with open arms and that she is smiling down at us from heaven. She is missed.... a lot.

On the 17th Dennis turned 43. We had family out to celebrate this big occasion. Mae loves a party- especially a party that includes cake and ice cream.

After a full month of work, hosting the Supper Club Christmas Party, Christmas shopping, and celebrating Dennis' birthday we were so excited to get away to Birmingham for Christmas and time to relax. Mae had such a wonderful time. She is now at the age where she is starting to take an interest in more things. We loved taking her to activities going on around the city.

But I do have to say, the definite highlights were Christmas morning and spending time with family.

When we returned to Presho on the 27th we got to celebrate Christmas again with the Stanley family along with celebrating Dennis' grandmother's 90th birthday.

What an eventful month!

It is our hope that you have a happy, healthy and blessed 2012. We have much to look forward to.
