Pool, Popsicles, Priceless

Finally we have arrived to summer harvest and all is looking great our way!
With the excitement of harvest, there also comes a feeling of sadness because Dennis is busy, busy, busy and we MISS HIM! So I decided I needed to make this week a fun one for both Mae and myself to get our minds off of missing Dad.
As I posted earlier this week, I began the week forming a play group. We had so much fun that another meeting is already planned for tomorrow.
We also tried out playing in a pool. I think my friends here think I am so evil for waiting this long to get Mae in water this summer. Dennis and I are not water people so the thought never crossed our minds that Mae would love it.Guess we were wrong. The girl had a blast. *Note: please do not judge the bathing suit which is a size too big. The off the shoulder straps is not what we were going for but Mae could have cared less. What else could be a fun new summer activity for Mae? Hmmmmmm...... POPSICLES!Mae did not know what to think. She was overcome with curiosity and excitement. I don't think much of the popsicle made it to her mouth. What a wonderful mess.
Priceless first moments! Who knows what will be in store next? I welcome any suggestions...

Play Date

Have I mentioned how HOT it has gotten here? For the past week we have been getting some very hot and humid (I am from the south- so I can say it was actually humid here!) days. We are talking triple digits. So that being said, Mae and Mom have been trapped inside. If you know my baby, you know that she is a pretty social girl. I told her we needed to make some friends. Today marked our very first play date. I decided to go small this go round to see how it all works. Mae's new friends Taydem and Ember- along with their moms- came over to play. It was perfect for her and for me. She enjoyed playing with others and I really enjoyed the time hanging out with two girls I haven't had much time with before. We have already talked about having another date next week. Hopefully next meeting will include Mae's original bff.Hope everyone is staying cool. Pray that harvest will make it here soon!

Getaway

Dennis surprised me last week with a "let's go somewhere this weekend". It took me no time to accept that invitation. Next thing you know, we are at the cabin having a wonderful time. A much needed break and special moment with one another.
Now, let's get this Harvest started. It is TIME!

Eleven Months

So, I had to open this post with this picture of Mae because this is SO her. She is completely captivated with the itsy, bitsy, littlest, tiniest things. She can study anything she finds on the floor for hours. I don't get it- but it makes me laugh. She also enjoys eating things she probably should not eat. Grass, hair, paper.... the calendar. The majority of my pictures taken this month focus on eating the calendar. Am I a bad parent for letting it happen in order to capture that moment?! (don't worry, she didn't REALLY eat it)Mae has turned eleven months! She is ALL OVER THE PLACE. The girl isn't walking yet and it still seems hard to keep up with her. I am feeling a bit overwhelmed with her mobility and praying for an extra couple of months before she walks. Is that a normal thing to pray for? I know, I know... I need to count my blessings and embrace all of her huge developmental advancements. Still, we have our work cut out for us!Mae also has her first wheat harvest coming up. I left her down at the farm today with her daddy and when I returned I had learned that she loves tractors and knows how to drive combine. She is a woman after her own dad's heart.Happy eleven months to my sweet baby Mae! Oh and don't you absolutely love her Raggety Ann smocked dress? My very dear and oldest bff made this for Mae and it will always be treasured.
